Happy New Year to everyone at UGM!  We hope you enjoyed the Christmas break and are ready for the year ahead.

January is exam time for many students, so to help you through, we had our Mind Your Mate campaign.  We gave away fruit, breakfast bars and water to those students taking their exams in the morning and afternoon during exam week.

We set up a ‘Cosy Corner’ at the top of the Mall where students could take time out to relax and do different daily activities aimed at relieving stress and helping students to relax.  Activities included making stress balls, origami, kinetic sand, painting a tote bag, making bracelets and mindful colouring.  These activities were very popular and we ran out of paints, beads and bags!  We will be hosting more activities during the coming months.    Students told us it was a lovely thing to do, and they appreciated it.

We visited new students in their classrooms, telling them about the SU and what we do.  Making sure they know where to find us and that we are there for them in every way.

We’ve been out in the Mall connecting with our students through GIAG activities.  We want students to know we are there for each of them in every way.

Our SU Advisors continued to help students going through Academic Appeals, Special Circumstances and other situations.  If you need advice/help, don’t hesitate to contact your SU.

Finally, we welcomed a new member of staff to our team.  Amy is the new Student Activities Coordinator.  She will be out and about at the various campuses, getting to know you and promoting the Students’ Union.
